Why are some sleeping bags

Question: I already have one rectangular sleeping bag. I want to buy another one, so that I can zip the two together and have a great big bag. I've read web sites that say that is only possible if you have one right-zippered bag and one left-zippered bag. What are they talking about? How can you tell the difference? If the zipper is on the right, and you flip the bag over it would be on the left, so I don't get it.

Answer: If you have a rectangular bag and get another rectangular bag it doesn't matter (make sure the zippers match though, they come in different sizes). It matters more if you have two semi rectangular or mummy sleeping bags. These bags have a definite 'front' and 'back' with the back forming a 'hood' to keep the head warm. If you zip two same zipper sided bags together one will be upside down and the 'hood' will be in one persons face.
